3 Ways to Set Your Client/VA Relationship on the Right Path

You took the steps to hire a VA to assist you with your business and a good relationship between you and your VA is essential. When things are running smoothly, your business is much more likely to grow!

Read on for three things you can do to get the relationship with your VA on the path to being rock solid!

Collaborate with your VA

One way to see growth in your business is to collaborate with your VA. Help her develop an understanding of your business and brand. Open up the lines of communication and allow your VA to share ideas! An added bonus is the relationship between you and your VA will strengthen as she becomes part of your team.

Communicate with your VA

Clear communication is vital in any relationship - and it’s no different with the relationship you have with your VA. When you clearly communicate with your VA about your project requirements, she has a better understanding of your needs and what you are asking her to do. When communication is open and expectations are clear, you will both feel more comfortable because your VA knows what to expect from you, and you from her.

Take off some of your hats

As a small business owner, you are used to wearing many hats. While you may wear some of them well, you need to remember everyone has limitations and can’t manage everything on their own, including you. When thinking about what to task your VA with, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

First, there are some things you can’t do on your own.

When you think about everything you do, identify the areas that you don’t have much expertise in (e.g. social media management, search engine optimization, bookkeeping, etc). There are bound to be areas you feel weaker in and you are not a jack of all trades! Once you identify those items, hand them off to your VA. Remember, Alpine Virtual hires VAs who are experienced and competent in their fields.

Second, there are some things you shouldn’t do on your own.

Not every task in your business requires your attention. Identify those that do and then hand off other routine tasks to your VA. Doing this will add more productive time to your day while allowing you to explore new business opportunities.

Taking off some of your hats and delegating is a win-win because our VAs love to be utilized! Allowing them to support you will build trust in the relationship between the two of you.
